At Red Tuxedo Mastering we were musicians before we were engineers.  We understand the importance of mastering from both technical and creative perspectives.  Our philosophy is to "stay out of the way" of the music. Our goal is to enhance the impact of the sounds you've created and help your music reach it's greatest sonic potential in a natural way without being heavy handed.

Alex Lowe is a Mastering Engineer with over 30 years of music industry experience.  As owner of Red Tuxedo Mastering he has put the finishing touches on projects from nearly every genre of music.  His work can be heard on Grammy nominated recordings by Gungor ("Ghosts Upon The Earth" and "Beautiful Things") and Earl Klugh ("Naked Guitar") .

 

Before starting Red Tuxedo in 2003 Alex worked with many notable projects and professionals including the 1996 Atlanta Olympic ceremonies, Brendan O'Brien, Paul McCandless, Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring, Outkast, Nine Inch Nails, Curtis Mayfield, TLC and Aretha Franklin.

 

Alex holds a degree in Music Production and Engineering from Berklee College of Music (1992).  He engineers for many of the top studios in the world such as MGM, Universal Studios, Sony, Paramount, Capitol Records to name a few.

 

Since its inception in 2003 Red Tuxedo has amassed an impressive list of local, national and international clients.  Adapting to industry trends Alex has expanded Red Tuxedo beyond mastering to include pre-recordist and music playback services for television and film.  You can also find Alex working on many of the movie productions around in the US and Canada.  He has been a team member for Oscar nominated production sound crews for the Sony Pictures movie "Baby Driver" in 2017 and then "First Man" in 2018 where his competence as a Pro Tools operator and playback mixer played a strong role in production. He recently finished the filming of RESPECT with Ocsar winners Jennifer Hudson and Forest Whittaker. During his free time he enjoys learning songs on guitar and saxophone, and working on his culinary skills.

After writing, recording and playing countless gigs as a guitarist throughout the 90s and early 00s, earning a degree in Communications from Suffolk University in Boston and forging a successful IT career with the likes of General Electric and Sun Microsystems, Rich shifted his focus to the craft of audio engineering.

 

Since joining Red Tuxedo in 2010 Rich has mastered projects for eOne, Atlantic Records, Relapse Records, Capitol Records, Sony Music, Fool's Gold Records, InVogue Records, Universal Music Group and engineered for organizations such as NARIP, Emory Hospital, The High Museum of Art and The Smithsonian Institution.  He's also taught Mastering and Multimedia classes at SAE Institute in Atlanta. 

 

Born into a musical family, Rich has been around music all of his life.  When he's not mastering he's writing, recording and producing music for clients and friends. He's recently mixed audio for several independent films and continues work on his own collection of eclectic music.  In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and watching MLB and NFL games with family and friends.
